Collection: Tongue Drum Songbook

The tongue drum is often described as a meditation instrument with which you can simply play sounds as they come, in no particular rhythm. But of course the tongue drum has tongues tuned to certain notes, with which you can also play melodies. The tongue drum songbook helps with this .

Playing the tongue drum - using the songbook

Imagine you are a beginner on the Sonodrum. As soon as you tell friends about your new instrument, you will surely be asked what you can already play on it. That is quite normal, because instruments are there to create melodies. And the more familiar a melody is, the easier it is to play and the faster you will get to grips with the instrument. If you already play another instrument, it will be a little easier to play melodies. If you need help, however, you can find it in three different songbooks that are available in addition to the introductory songbook that is included when you buy a tongue drum: a meditation CD with songs, a tongue drum songbook for the C major instrument and a songbook in three versions for the D major tongue drum.

Tongue Drum Songbook

Songbook to start meditation

Meditation has a lot to do with improvisation: simply sitting there, playing sounds, listening to the tones and calming down. You might not believe it, but improvising is particularly difficult. It involves inventing your own melodies, a task that is usually done by composers and songwriters. Many people are not satisfied with the result, especially at the beginning. The aim is to create a harmonious whole, although when playing the tongue drum it is not at all important to deliver something perfect. The meditation CD with 16 songs on different topics helps you get started with meditation. Pieces such as "Inner Peace", "Cheerfulness" or "Gratitude" help you get into a special meditation mood.

Tongue drum songbook D major for advanced playing

Anyone who buys a D major tongue drum already has somewhat more musical demands and usually more experience. There are several variations of the D major tongue drum and therefore three songbooks . The simplest tongue drum songbook is suitable for the smallest D major Sonodrum with a diameter of 15 cm. With its eight tongues, this tongue drum is very easy to understand and therefore allows you to play less difficult pieces without any problems. The songbook for the two medium-sized tongue drums with a diameter of 20.3 and 25.4 cm is somewhat more demanding. And then there is the tongue drum songbook for the largest instruments with a diameter of 30.5 cm. This instrument has eleven tongues and therefore a wider range of tones. Of course, the large tongue drum and songbook are also suitable as a beginner's instrument; it just requires a little more concentration at the beginning so that you can find your way around between the many tongues.

Buy a matching tongue drum and songbook

Are you wondering which tongue drum and which songbook you should buy? This question is not easy to answer. Several factors come into play. It is certainly true that the simple instruments with eight tongues are particularly useful for beginners with little previous musical knowledge. However, you must not forget that you or your child will continue to develop. After a short time, a second tongue drum in a different key or with more tongues may be necessary. The second criterion is height. A small child who plays the tongue drum in early musical education will cope better with a small instrument. Adults, on the other hand, can easily use a tongue drum with a large diameter. The songbooks cover all sizes of tongue drum.
